Texting While Driving Banned in Illinois

Posted by Steven R. on Thursday, February 25, 2010 Under: Traffic Laws
The 2010 year has been marked by many states enacting laws to ban the use of cell phones for drivers. Illinois, like many other states, has recently enacted a law regarding the use of electronic communications in vehicles. The Illinois law bans the composition, reading and/or sending of electronic communications while driving. Our technology dependent residents should be aware that sending a text message or reading an e-mail while in the driver's seat can lead to a violation of the law. Traffic tickets can be prevented by following the law & keeping updated with changes in the Illinois Vehicle Code. The full law regarding electronic communications can be found here.
